I didn't get bored but I think if the game was any longer, I would. So it's more up to you to keep the combat fresh. And some of the combos look really cool and make you feel cool if executed properly, even if you could win anyway without them. It gets repetitive but I wouldn't say boring. You get a few combos and techniques at your disposal but it's up to you how creatively you use them, you can basically just spam attack or Dust Storm with magic again and again. The combat is hack'n'slash that is not too technical. In connection with the visual style it draw me in so heavily, I can only compare it to playing Ori, no other 2D game got me so immersed in the world as these ones.
But even though the songs are beautiful on their own, they work really well with the levels they play in. My other favourite areas were the caverns and the mounintains - the levels are just so beautiful.Īnd man the music! Writing about it doesn't do it justice! I'm definitely going to listen to the soundtrack even now when I finished playing the game. But the world and especially the parallax background is so beautiful! I especially loved the peak of Archer Pass, where there is a giant LOTR-like statue in the background that slowly reveals itself and when you get to the top, an NPC tells you the story of the place. Now the character design might be a little off-putting to some people (because furries) but there is no inappropriate stuff and I got used to it pretty quickly.
For me personally, audiovisuals, worldbuilding, story and character can definitely justify blander gameplay so if you feel the same, give it a try.įirst of all is the absolute best aspect of the game - art an music.
You get used to things that might be annoying at fitst (character design, voice acting) and it's not long enough for the imperfect stuff to become boring (combat, RPG elements).
